Malappuram : A national seminar held at Madeenathul Uloom Arabic College, Pulikkal, on Monday stressed that Arabic language and literature could serve as a medium to resolve conflicts and promote constructive dialogue in times of global unrest, reported the Hindu.
The two-day seminar on ‘War and Peace in Modern Arabic Literature’ was jointly organised by the Kerala State Higher Education Council, Calicut University’s Department of Arabic, and Amal College of Advanced Studies’ Department of Arabic.
The event was inaugurated by noted educationalist Musheer Husain Siddiqui, former head of the Department of Arabic and Arab Culture, Lucknow University. In his address, he underlined the importance of Arabic literature in shaping perspectives on peace and reconciliation.
College Principal Basheer M. presided over the session, while K.A. Abdul Haseeb Madani, Principal of Assabah Arabic College, Pavittapuram, delivered the keynote address.
During the seminar, Dr. Siddiqui released the Arabic translation of late Malayalam actor Innocent’s memoir Cancer Wardile Chiri (Laughter in the Cancer Ward), translated by researcher Yusuf Sahib Nadvi.
Several academicians and scholars, including T.P. Abdul Razak Baqawi, Principal of Jamia Salafiya Arabic College, Pulikkal; Muneer Madani, Head of Arabic Department, MUA College; Sabir Navas C.M., Research Centre Coordinator, MUA College; Alijafar C.H., Head of Arabic Department, Amal College; Mohammed Favas K., Principal of Anvarul Islam Arabic College, Kuniyil; Nishadali V., Programme Coordinator; and Moideenkutty Kallara, Assistant Professor, Government Arts and Science College, Malappuram, addressed the sessions.
The valedictory function will be held on Tuesday, September 16, and will be inaugurated by MP P.V. Abdul Wahab. T.P. Abdullakoya Madani, Correspondent of MUA College, will preside over the closing ceremony.
