Nationwide Protests Target Domino’s Over Ties With Israel in Solidarity With Palestine

In a strong display of solidarity with Palestine, protestors gathered outside Domino’s Pizza outlets in cities across India on May 10, demanding accountability from the brand over its operations in Israel. The protests were coordinated under the banner of “Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine” and formed part of the larger Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign in India, reported the Siasat.
Demonstrations were held outside 33 Domino’s franchises in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Visakhapatnam, Patna, and Vijayawada. Protesters accused the pizza chain of supporting the Israeli military by supplying food to forces engaged in attacks on Gaza.
Organised with support from civil society groups such as the Revolutionary Workers’ Party of India (RWPI), Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Disha Students’ Organisation, Stree Mukti League, and the Delhi State Anganwadi Workers’ and Helpers’ Union, the protests condemned Israel’s ongoing military aggression.
Speaking at one protest, activist Priyamvada denounced the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, citing over 51,000 Palestinian deaths and severe shortages due to the Israeli blockade. She also highlighted the Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla aid ship and framed the crisis within the context of historical occupation since 1948.
BDS India representative Swapnaja underlined the global success of boycott campaigns, mentioning examples like Puma cutting ties with Israeli football and other fast food chains suffering losses in countries like Turkey and Egypt.
“Our collective power can force even the most powerful corporations and Zionist regimes to bow down. India must follow the model of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa,” she stated.
The campaign is set to intensify, with organisers aiming to reach more citizens and pressure corporations and the Indian government to cut ties with Israel.
