NDA Government Sworn in Amid Hopes for Employment and Social Cohesion

New Delhi, June 10: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government took the oath of office on Sunday, marking the beginning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha emphasized that it is now an “NDA government” rather than solely a “Modi government,” expressing optimism for a focus on employment and reducing societal polarization.

Jha highlighted several critical issues, hoping the new government will address the needs of weaker sections and combat crony capitalism. “The biggest requirement of youngsters today is employment, so employment is a big issue, and he should work on it,” Jha stated.

The RJD chose not to attend the swearing-in ceremony, instead having the INDIA coalition represented by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

During the campaign, Jha criticized the BJP’s tactics, hoping for a “course correction” in governance. He noted the significant role of Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) in the coalition, urging the government to address Bihar’s demand for special status and implement a nationwide caste census.

Jha also mentioned the need for increased reservations in Bihar to be added to Schedule 9 of the Constitution and proposed a blueprint for agro-based industries in the state.

The NDA’s victory underscores its continued influence in Indian politics, with Modi set to lead the government for another term, alongside his council of ministers.
