Ahilyanagar (formerly known as Ahmednagar): AIMIM leader and former Aurangabad MP, Imtiyaz Jaleel launched a blistering attack on the Maharashtra administration over the state of the road from Nevasa Ahilyanagar to Pune. He accused local ministers and officials of ignoring the crisis while public funds vanish into corruption.
Jaleel described the stretch as riddled with huge pits. He said the holes are larger than anything he has seen on Indian roads. He told local representatives, including the collector and ministers, to leave their offices and inspect the route in person. He asked them to travel from Pune to Nevasa by car to feel the hardship faced by commuters.
Jaleel accused some officials of siphoning off cement and bitumen meant for repairs. He claimed money from the district planning funds goes missing and that this explains the worsening surface. He warned that complacent officials could be benefiting from the pattern of decay. He urged them to answer to citizens.
To prove his point, Jaleel issued a public challenge. He offered Rs 10,000 if a minister or MLA completed the journey from Pune to Nevasa in an air-conditioned vehicle without suffering damage or discomfort from the potholes. He used the wager to dramatize the risk motorists face on the route.
The leader also set a deadline for action. He called on the Ahilyanagar administration and the police to fix the road immediately. He warned that if officials did not act, his party would mount a road blockade and launch a mass agitation. Jaleel said his movement would escalate until repairs begin.
He named specific local politicians and accused them of silence while funds were diverted. Jaleel urged residents to hold elected representatives accountable. He told citizens their complaints must force the administration to respond.
Jaleel framed the issue as a matter of public safety and governance. He said poor road conditions damage vehicles and endanger commuters. He demanded transparency on fund use and swift remedial work. He said a visible, maintained road is a basic obligation of local government.
Officials in Ahilyanagar did not respond at the time of his remarks. Jaleel pledged to return to the area and intensify protests if repairs do not start. He said he would keep pressure on the administration until the Nevasa to Pune highway is safe for daily travel.
