Upon taking charge, Anand emphasized his immediate priorities: ensuring the smooth and peaceful completion of Ganesh idol immersion and Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. He also announced plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the security arrangements for these events.
This marks Anand’s second term as the city’s top cop, having previously served from December 2021 to October 2023. He succeeded K Sreenivas Reddy. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister and State Government, Anand conveyed his satisfaction in returning to the role. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to tackling drug-related issues, particularly focusing on the eradication of drugs and ganja, and promised to strengthen law and order across Hyderabad.
Anand emphasized the importance of friendly policing, assuring citizens that while the police force remains approachable, they will take firm action against criminal activities.
During his previous tenure, Anand was recognized for implementing key technological advancements, such as D-CAMO and Fit Cop, and leading several reforms. His achievements included establishing the Command Control Centre (CCC), reorganizing the city police force, launching H-NEW (Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing), and appointing women inspectors as SHOs.
