New Waqf Law to Have More Adverse Effect Than Babri Masjid Verdict: Ali Anwar

– Md. Sami Ahmad

Patna: President of All India Pasmanda Muslim Mahaz and former Rajya Sabha member Ali Anwar Ansari has said that the controversial new waqf law will have a much more adverse effect than the Babri Masjid verdict.

In a statement today, Ali Anwar said the new waqf law was against the public interest and the Indian Constitution. The former MP alleged that the law aims to make communal polarisation permanent and countrywide. He said that by this law, the BJP wants to push the country into a communal cauldron to grab power.

Ali Anwar said Babri Masjid was one Masjid, but this minority BJP government wants to take into its control the country’s lakhs of Masjids, Qabristans, Dargahs, Khanqash, Madrasas and school-colleges built on Waqf lands through this contentious waqf law. He opined that the BJP government would hand over waqf properties to corporate houses.

The Pasmanda leader observed that the BJP government in no way intends to improve the regulation of waqf properties. He said that through the new waqf law, the central government has violated the provisions of Sections 14, 15 and 26 of the Indian Constitution.

He cautioned that this was not only an intrusion in Islam by the government but it would subsequently grab the properties of Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists too. He alleged that earlier, the government had handed over land properties of the Indian Railways, forest and defence to the private sector.

Ali Anwar said that eighty percent of the Muslim population is Pasmanda but it was the same Pasmanda people who have been targeted during this government by mob lynchings and bulldozer ‘injustice’. He said it was the same Pasmanda Muslims who were killed in the name of Gau Raksha and Love Jihad. He said that the entire country witnessed that despite a ban by the court, the BJP government bulldozed the houses and shops of Pasmanda Muslims.

The renowned Pasmanda leader said the Pasmanda Muslims now expect justice from the Supreme Court. He hailed the legal battle of all opposition parties against the contentious waqf law.

Ali Anwar, who also served as a senior journalist in India’s top publications, said that through the new waqf law, the BJP has finished off the politics of Nitish Kumar and Chandra Babu Naidu. He said that it was the last chance for both Kumar and Naidu to take a stand against the ‘unconstitutional law’ of the central government, otherwise, the Pasmanda Muslims would teach them a lesson.
