New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency has arrested another doctor in the Delhi blast case. The explosion near the Red Fort killed over a dozen people and injured many others. The agency said Dr Bilal Naseer Malla from Baramulla had sheltered suicide bomber Dr Umar and helped him with logistics.
Dr Malla is the eighth accused arrested in the case. The NIA called him a key link in what it described as a white-collar terror module. Investigators said he had knowingly given support to Umar Un Nabi and had destroyed evidence linked to the attack.
The NIA said it is investigating the wider network behind the blast. It is coordinating with several central and state agencies. Officials said the aim is to map every person involved in the conspiracy.
The agency recently took another accused, Dr Adeel Rather, to Kashmir for a search operation in a forest area in Anantnag. The operation involved the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Officials said some suspicious material was recovered. Dr Adeel was a close associate of the suicide bomber. His arrest earlier led to the recovery of nearly 300 kilograms of explosive material from Haryana.
Another accused, student Jasir Bilal Wani, is under investigation. He is known for his interest in drone technology. The NIA said it is working to uncover the full extent of the module and its operations.
