New Delhi: A 24 year old woman died after falling from the roof of her house in Greater Noida’s Ecotech III area, with her family alleging dowry harassment, physical assault, and murder disguised as an accident.
Police identified the deceased as Deepika, a resident of Kudi Khera village under Badalpur police station limits. She married Hrithik, a resident of Jalpura village, around one and a half years ago.
According to police, the incident took place on Sunday night. Family members alleged Deepika faced repeated harassment over dowry demands from her husband and in laws. Her uncle, Vishesh Nagar, claimed the accused demanded a Fortuner car and Rs 50 lakh from her family.
Nagar said Deepika’s father visited her marital home shortly before the incident. About half an hour after returning home, the family received a phone call informing them she had fallen and was admitted to Sharda Hospital.
The family alleged they later discovered Deepika had died. Nagar claimed there were several marks of physical assault on her body along with a deep wound, which he believed was caused by a sharp object such as a blade or screwdriver.
He accused Deepika’s husband and in laws of beating her before throwing her from the terrace to present the case as an accident linked to suicide.
Police have arrested Deepika’s husband Hrithik and her father in law Manoj in connection with the case. Authorities have started further investigation into the allegations of dowry harassment and murder.
