OIC 15th Islamic Summit Concludes with Adoption of Banjul Declaration

6 May 2024: The 15th Islamic Summit Conference of the OIC Member States drew to a close in Banjul, The Gambia, on Sunday, after a series of deliberations focused on the theme of “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development.” Led by the President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow, the summit saw the participation of esteemed leaders including Heads of State and Government from OIC Member States.

During the concluding session, the Islamic Summit Conference adopted three pivotal documents: the Banjul Declaration, the Final Communiqué, and a Resolution addressing the Cause of Palestine and Al-Quds.

Subsequently, a press conference was convened, presided over by Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, with notable attendees including the President of the Gambia and the OIC Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha. At the press conference, Secretary-General Taha outlined the key outcomes of the 15th Islamic Summit, addressing inquiries from journalists regarding the conference’s decisions and resolutions.
