New Delhi: A grand one-day Dastar-Bandi (turban-tying) ceremony was organised with great dignity and religious enthusiasm under the auspices of Darul Uloom Rahmania, Sangam Vihar, New Delhi. The spiritually uplifting gathering was presided over by the renowned Islamic scholar of the country, Sheikh-ul-Hadith of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow, and Chief Patron of the institution, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Khalid Nadwi Ghazipuri. The proceedings were skilfully conducted by Maulana Arshad Nadwi.
The event commenced with a soulful recitation of the Holy Qur’an by the institution’s teacher, Qari Abdul Salam. This was followed by a tribute of devotion in praise of the Prophet ﷺ, presented by the student Hafiz Shaukat.
On this occasion, Maulana Mufti Mahmood Ahmad Qasmi Bastawi delivered an insightful address highlighting the virtues of the Holy Qur’an. He congratulated the Huffaz (memorizers of the Qur’an) and urged them to continue both their religious and modern education. He also congratulated the parents of the Huffaz, mentioning the lofty rewards promised by Allah Almighty for them on the Day of Judgment.
Later, the Imam and Khateeb of Badi Masjid, Laxmi Nagar, Maulana Abdul Hannan Qasmi, emphasised social reform and strongly condemned the social evil of dowry. He stated that this curse has deprived many girls of marriage and forced some onto wrong paths. He warned that if timely reform is not undertaken, society will sink further into darkness.
Member of Parliament Maulana Mohibullah Nadwi attended the gathering as the chief guest. Speaking in the context of current circumstances, he said the Ummah needs individuals of strong character who can provide guidance in every field. He stressed maintaining good relations with fellow countrymen and presenting the true image of Islam through exemplary conduct.
Maulana Fakhrul Hasan Nadwi, Director of the Department of Construction and Development at Nadwatul Ulama, also addressed the gathering, eloquently highlighting the importance of safeguarding and preserving Islamic seminaries. During the programme, former student of the madrasa, Qari Muhammad Saad Qasmi, captivated the audience with his melodious recitation.
On the occasion, nine newly graduated Huffaz and four Huffaz who had completed a full recitation of the Qur’an in a single sitting were formally honoured with the Dastar-Bandi ceremony and presented with various awards. The Mohtamim (Rector) of the madrasa, Maulana Muhammad Mi’raj Khan Nadwi, along with all the teachers, were also honoured with turbans in recognition of their services.
Following the ceremony, the Mohtamim presented the annual comprehensive report and delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests and seeking their continued cooperation in the future.
In his presidential address, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Khalid Nadwi offered valuable advice to the students, emphasizing the importance of social reform and the eradication of immodesty. The program concluded in a grand manner with a heartfelt supplication by the respected president.
