New Delhi : Despite the Uttar Pradesh government’s repeated claims of restoring law and order in the state, a recent show of force by the Karni Sena has raised serious questions. In a shocking display of lawlessness, members of the Karni Sena openly waved swords and weapons during a public rally in Agra, even in the presence of police personnel.
The event, held in Kabirpur under the name “Rakt Swabhiman Sammelan,” saw Karni Sena workers not only brandishing swords on stage but also delivering provocative speeches targeting Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ramji Lal Suman. The crowd demanded an apology from the MP, accusing him of making derogatory remarks against the Kshatriya community, and threatened to “answer in his own language.”
Videos of the event have gone viral on social media, showing Karni Sena leaders displaying swords and sticks while chanting aggressive slogans. When the police, led by an Additional Commissioner, reached the venue to control the situation, the crowd reportedly became more aggressive, forcing police officers to retreat.
The protest stems from a recent statement made by MP Ramji Lal Suman in Parliament, which Karni Sena and other Kshatriya groups found offensive. However, Suman has clarified that his remarks were misinterpreted. Several Dalit and Samajwadi Party leaders have alleged that the controversy is being deliberately stoked for political and caste-based polarization.
The incident has drawn widespread criticism and raised serious concerns about law enforcement in the state. While the rally openly violated public safety norms and the presence of police failed to deter the Sena’s aggression, questions are now being asked about the Yogi government’s claims of having curbed mafia and criminal elements in Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities have reportedly initiated an investigation into the incident. However, the bold display of power by the Karni Sena has once again brought law and order in the state under sharp scrutiny, with many on social media asking if this is the state of governance in “New Uttar Pradesh.”
