Aligarh: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in collaboration with Azad Foundation Society, organised an awareness campaign titled Operation Jagriti 4.0 at the NSS Office, Lal Diggi Road, Aligarh. The initiative aimed at promoting a spirit of social responsibility, national consciousness, and community welfare, drawing enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, students, and community members.
The campaign was graced by Prof. Ali Nawaz Zaidi, Deputy Proctor, AMU, as Chief Guest, and key dignitaries including Mrs. Mamta Kureel, SP Crime, Aligarh; Mr. Abhay Kumar Pandey, Circle Officer (CO); Mr. Nasir Khan, UNICEF Representative; Sub-Inspectors Kusum Lata and Shikha Tyagi; and the Station House Officer, Civil Lines, as Guests of Honour. The dignitaries addressed a range of critical social issues including cyber safety, violence against women, drug abuse, family disintegration, and the misuse of legal provisions.
The speakers underscored the significance of proactive counselling, access to free legal aid, and timely police action. Special emphasis was laid on protecting youth from falling prey to cybercrimes and substance abuse and sensitising them to avoid impulsive decisions such as fleeing homes due to emotional distress.
Dr. Mohammad Mohsin Khan, Programme Coordinator, NSS AMU, in his welcome address, elaborated on the mission of Operation Jagriti – promoting social awareness under the banner of Nation First. Programme Officer Abdul Jabbar and Mr. Mohammad Imran Khan played instrumental roles in organising and moderating the campaign.
Addressing the gathering, CO Abhay Kumar Pandey praised NSS AMU and Azad Foundation Society for their sustained efforts in nurturing civic sense among the youth. He highlighted the importance of collective awareness in building an inclusive and equitable society. The programme also featured interactive sessions that empowered participants to think critically about prevailing societal issues and explore solutions through collective action.
The NSS Programme Officers Prof. Hareef, Dr. Muhammad Uzair, and Mr. Rahid Akbari, reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to holistic student development through service.
NSS AMU has a longstanding tradition of spearheading impactful campaigns, such as Nation First, Road Safety Drives, Voter Awareness Rallies, and Health Initiatives. The collaboration with Azad Foundation Society significantly expanded the outreach and effectiveness of Operation Jagriti 4.0.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks. The event reaffirmed NSS AMU’s mission of empowering youth to serve society with responsibility, integrity, and a strong sense of national pride.
