Osmania University Students Hold Protest Over Stale Food in Hostel Mess

Hyderabad: Students of the University College of Law at Osmania University held a protest inside the campus after hostel residents alleged that the mess served stale food for dinner. The protest began near the E1 hostel where students raised slogans against the Vice Chancellor and the Chief Warden. They gathered on the main road and displayed the food items in utensils to show the poor quality of the meal.

The students said they had raised complaints earlier about repeated lapses in the mess. They also pointed to the lack of basic amenities inside the hostel. They said the administration did not respond to these concerns. The protest brought attention to long standing issues in the hostel system. Students said they wanted a clear plan from the administration to improve hygiene and food quality.

The OU police reached the location after receiving information about the protest. They spoke to the students and urged them to maintain calm. The police said the protest ended peacefully. Students will meet university authorities on Wednesday to discuss their demands.

Traffic movement near the campus slowed for a short period due to the gathering. Students said they want action rather than assurances during their meeting with officials. Many students from the law college said they face similar mess problems often and want stronger checks on food preparation.

The protest highlighted the need for regular monitoring of hostel facilities. Students said they hope the upcoming meeting will lead to clear steps that improve living conditions on campus.
