Kochi: The tragic suicide of 15-year-old Mihir in Tripunithura, Kerala, has sparked nationwide outrage. Investigations reveal severe bullying and ragging at school led to his death. Police statements from Mihir’s family and friends confirm relentless abuse pushed him to take his own life.
Mihir witnessed a violent incident where two students assaulted another, causing a nosebleed. Instead of reporting the assault, they gave medicine to the injured student and lied about the incident. CCTV footage shows Mihir in distress after a meeting with school authorities, raising concerns about their response.
Mihir wanted to transfer schools due to harassment. With his parents’ support, he registered for a school in Kodaikanal on January 13, two days before his death. However, persistent bullying took a devastating toll on his mental health.
Protests erupted, with the Kerala Students Union staging a demonstration in Kochi on February 4, demanding strict action. Mihir’s family provided disturbing evidence of the abuse, urging legal action.
Musthafa P., Global CEO of iD Fresh Food India Pvt Ltd. and Mihir’s uncle, shared shocking details in a LinkedIn post. He revealed Mihir was assaulted, humiliated, and forced to lick a toilet seat while his head was flushed in the toilet. He was also subjected to racial slurs. Even after his death, students mocked him in private chats, celebrating with racial remarks.
Musthafa P. expressed grief and demanded justice. “Mihir left this world to escape these criminals. His death must not go in vain,” he said, urging support for stricter anti-ragging policies.
The case has sparked national discussions on school bullying, anti-ragging policies, and accountability. Activists, educators, and parents demand urgent reforms. Mihir’s family remains determined to seek justice, hoping this tragedy leads to meaningful change.
