Owaisi Flags Bias Over Ayodhya Verdict and Condemns Delhi Blast Accused

New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned what he described as unequal reactions to acts of dissent while speaking at an event in Hyderabad. He referred to the 2019 Supreme Court verdict on the Babri Masjid Ram Janmabhoomi dispute and raised concerns about prejudice faced by Muslims in India. He said the judgment did not favour the Muslim side, yet no Muslim ever targeted a judge. He contrasted this with the muted response to the attempted shoe attack on former Chief Justice of India BR Gavai by a lawyer from the majority community.

Owaisi said Muslims in India have faced hostility for years. He said the community has never acted against the nation and has always remained loyal. He criticised political voices that demand proof of patriotism from Muslims. He said such attitudes harm national progress.

He also addressed the October incident when lawyer Rakesh Kishore attempted to throw a shoe at Justice Gavai. The lawyer said he acted in protest against the judge’s earlier remarks. Owaisi said the response to the incident showed a difference in how dissent is judged depending on who is involved.

He again condemned the November 10 suicide bombing near Delhi’s Red Fort. The attack killed 14 people, including Hindus and Muslims. He said anyone who plots violence inside an educational institution must be condemned. He said enemies of the nation are enemies of all citizens. Investigators say the accused were members of a Faridabad based module linked to Jaish e Mohammad. The bomber, Dr Umar un Nabi, was described as the most radicalised member of the group.
