Karimnagar: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party over its claims of nationalism while addressing a public meeting in Karimnagar ahead of municipal elections. AIMIM has fielded 15 candidates in the city.
Owaisi questioned Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on India’s reduced purchase of Russian oil. He asked why BJP leaders stayed silent after reports of warnings from the United States over continued oil trade. He said nationalism appeared selective when external pressure influenced economic choices. He added China benefited from cheaper crude purchases while India reduced imports.
Shifting focus to local governance, Owaisi raised concerns over civic conditions in Karimnagar. He said the city’s Smart City tag failed to deliver basic services. He listed poor roads, weak drainage systems, and erratic electricity supply. He said Muslim localities faced neglect in development planning. He also alleged demolition of 25 houses overnight under pressure from the local MLA.
Owaisi criticised Karimnagar legislator Gangula Kamalakar and said earlier electoral success came due to AIMIM support. He warned voters of a post election shift toward the BJP. He claimed support for Bharat Rashtra Samithi would indirectly help the BJP. He urged voters to avoid wasting their mandate.
The AIMIM leader also addressed concerns over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He appealed to mosque committees and Muslim scholars to speak publicly. He alleged the process targeted Muslim voters. He said disenfranchisement efforts no longer relied on CAA, NRC, or NPR. He said electoral revisions formed the new route.
Owaisi urged voters to remain alert. He said local development and voting rights required protection through informed choices.
