Hyderabad : In a sharp response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday called on the Central Government to take stronger action against Pakistan, suggesting a bold strategy of “enter and stay” rather than limited cross-border strikes, reported the Varta Bharati.
Speaking to reporters, Owaisi referred to the Indian Parliament’s resolution declaring Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as an integral part of India and said, “If any action is taken this time, it should be ‘ghar mein ghus ke baith jana’ (enter their house and stay). Earlier it was ‘ghar mein ghus ke maarenge’ (enter and kill), now it should be ‘enter and stay’.”
He was responding to media reports about Pakistani soldiers vacating border posts but clarified he had no confirmation of such movements.
Reiterating his stance against terrorism, Owaisi cited several major attacks—including 26/11, Pulwama, Uri, Pathankot, and Reasi—and criticized the BJP for failing to prevent such incidents despite being in power. “All opposition parties are demanding the government to eliminate terrorism. You (BJP) are ruling, stop this now,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier stated that the Indian armed forces have complete operational freedom in determining the course of action following the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed on April 22.
Owaisi also announced that AIMIM will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and predicted a strong showing in the Seemanchal region. He claimed the region’s voters would “teach a lesson” to those who “stole” his party’s MLAs, referring to the 2022 defection of AIMIM legislators to RJD. He confirmed the party’s candidate for Bahadurganj has been declared and that he will campaign in Bihar on May 3 and 4.
On the issue of caste-based census, Owaisi welcomed the Centre’s announcement but urged the government to pass legislation in the upcoming monsoon session that would break the 50% reservation cap. “Opposition parties will support this,” he asserted. He also pressed the BJP-led government to clarify when the census will begin and whether its data will be made public before the 2029 elections.
