Owaisi condemns lifting of ban on government employees to participate in RSS activities

Hyderabad, July 22: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has slammed the government for lifting a ban on government employees from participating in RSS activities and said this is against India’s integrity and unity.

The Hyderabad MP also said that no civil servant can be loyal to the nation if he is a member of RSS.

He said the ban on RSS exists because it had originally refused to accept the Constitution, the National Flag and the National Anthem.

“Every RSS member takes an oath that puts Hindutva above the nation. No civil servant can be loyal to the nation if he is a member of RSS,” he said in his reaction to the government memo about lifting of the ban.

Owaisi said that after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Nehru’s government banned RSS. “The ban was lifted because they had to agree that they will respect the Indian Constitution, they will respect the national flag of India and they had to give their written constitution and in that, there were many conditions that they will not participate in politics,” he said.

“This BJP-NDA government is permitting government servants to take part in the activities of RSS. I think this is absolutely wrong because the membership form of RSS says that they do not consider the diversity of India. They swear on Hindu Rashtra. I believe that all cultural organizations should not be permitted,” he added.

Owaisi pointed out that there are many cultural organisations that believe in Communist ideology and asked if the government would allow government servants to take part in their activities.

The MP asked the allies of the NDA to clarify if they support the government’s move to allow government employees to participate in RSS activities.
