Hyderabad: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly criticized the recent changes made to the NCERT syllabus, accusing the BJP of rewriting history to target Muslims. Speaking at a public event, Owaisi alleged that the new curriculum unfairly holds Muslims responsible for the partition of India.
He argued that historical evidence does not support such claims. “We are not responsible for the partition. It was Savarkar who first raised the slogan of partition. The responsibility lies with Mountbatten and the Congress leadership of that time,” Owaisi said. He also questioned how ordinary Muslims could be blamed when only landlords, nawabs, and a small elite had the right to vote during that period.
Owaisi also expressed concern over the removal of key details about Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. He said that the syllabus no longer explains why Nathuram Godse killed Gandhi. “The government has removed the very reason why Gandhi was killed. This is a clear attempt to manipulate history,” he stated.
The AIMIM chief accused the ruling party of using education as a tool to spread misinformation and to vilify Muslims. He added that despite the sacrifices made by Muslims for India’s freedom, the community continues to face blame and discrimination.
Owaisi urged citizens to recognize the dangers of altering history and to oppose attempts to distort the truth. He emphasized that protecting historical accuracy is essential for safeguarding democracy and justice.
