Owaisi Says Suicide Is Haram In Islam, Calls Delhi Blasts Video Terrorism

New Delhi: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi criticised Delhi blast accused Dr Umar Nabi after a video surfaced of Nabi describing his attack as a martyrdom operation. Owaisi said suicide is haram in Islam and the killing of innocent people is a grave sin. He said Nabi’s claims have no basis in Islamic teachings and described the act as terrorism.

Owaisi said the video does not show a misunderstood concept. He said suicide attacks target civilians and violate the law. He added that no cause allows attacks on unarmed people and that attempts to frame such violence as religious duty mislead youth.

Owaisi also questioned the Union Home Ministry. He referred to Home Minister Amit Shah’s earlier assurance in Parliament that no local Kashmiri had joined terror groups. Owaisi asked how this group formed if that assurance was accurate. He asked who would take responsibility for the failure to detect the network.

The blast took place on November 10 when a car driven by Dr Umar Nabi exploded near the Red Fort. Fifteen people lost their lives. Many others were injured. The video showed Nabi speaking about suicide bombing and martyrdom and trying to justify the attack.

Investigators are looking into the role of several doctors linked to Al Falah University and individuals based in Kashmir. Probe teams are checking whether these connections helped plan or support the Delhi blasts. The case has raised concerns about recruitment, local networks and oversight failures within security systems.
