Owaisi Urges Muslim Voters to Back AIUDF in Assam Poll Battle

Guwahati: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has called on Muslim voters in Assam to support the All India United Democratic Front in the upcoming assembly elections. Speaking at a public gathering in Nagaon, he said minority representation in the state assembly depends on a consolidated vote.

Owaisi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government of discriminatory actions. He claimed that over 50,000 Muslims have faced eviction, leaving many without homes. He said such actions violate constitutional protections and require a strong political response.

He also criticised the Indian National Congress. He said the party failed to challenge these issues and did not raise concerns on behalf of affected communities. He added that Congress weakness allowed the BJP to remain in power in the state.

During his visit, Owaisi expressed support for AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal. He said voting for AIUDF would help protect the rights of Muslims and ensure their concerns reach the assembly.

Owaisi also targeted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He accused the state leadership of promoting divisive politics. He urged voters to respond through the ballot.

The Assam assembly elections will take place in a single phase across 126 constituencies. Counting is scheduled for May 4. The BJP led alliance is seeking a third term, while the Congress aims to return to power.

Owaisi said the outcome will shape how minority concerns are addressed in the coming years. He urged voters to act with unity and purpose.
