Pahalgam : In a heart-wrenching incident during a terrorist attack in the picturesque town of Pahalgam, 24-year-old Syed Adil Hussain, a local horseman, lost his life while trying to save others. Known for taking tourists from the car parking area to the lush meadows of Baisaran on horseback, Adil displayed extraordinary courage when he attempted to snatch a rifle from one of the assailants during the sudden assault.
Eyewitnesses say Adil, despite being unarmed, tried to overpower one of the terrorists in a bid to protect tourists. However, the militants shot him during the scuffle.
Speaking to ANI, Adil’s father, Syed Haidar Shah, recalled that his son had gone to work in Pahalgam that morning. “Around 3 PM, I heard about the attack in the area. I tried calling him, but his phone was switched off. Around 4:30 PM, the phone rang but no one answered. I rushed to the police station, and that’s when I was told that my son was injured in the attack,” he said, holding back tears.
“I believe my son died a martyr. He was innocent. Why was he killed?” Shah questioned. He demanded justice for his son and strict punishment for those responsible for his death. Adil’s mother is devastated and inconsolable, and the family, already struggling with poverty, is now grappling with this unimaginable loss.
The entire region is mourning the death of the young man who chose courage over fear. Residents say Adil’s bravery in the face of danger will not be forgotten. His selflessness has become a symbol of local heroism.
Police have launched an investigation and are actively working to identify and apprehend the attackers.
