New Delhi – Hundreds of protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Tuesday, raising powerful slogans of “Palestine Zindabad” as they condemned Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza and criticised the United States for supporting the violence. The rally, organised by student groups and leftist political parties, demanded that India stand with the oppressed people of Palestine and stop aligning with Israel and the US, reported the Clarion India.
The protest saw active participation from Delhi University students and leaders from the Communist Party of India (CPI) and other progressive outfits. The demonstrators carried banners with messages such as “We appreciate the struggle of Palestinians against Israel” and “Long live our solidarity against the alliance of Zionism and imperialism.”
Speaking at the rally, a student activist declared, “This protest is against the systematic genocide of Palestinians being carried out by the imperialist alliance of Israel and the US. We demand justice and freedom for Gaza.”
Another protester criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy and called for India to “disassociate from the Zionist state.” Leftist leaders accused the Indian government of ignoring international law and turning a blind eye to United Nations resolutions that support Palestinian rights.
A CPI leader said, “The Indian government must stand with Palestine, not with the aggressors. This silence and complicity must end.”
The protest took place amid worsening conditions in Gaza, where over 60,000 Palestinians have reportedly lost their lives. With thousands more injured or displaced, the region is facing extreme shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
Protesters urged the Indian government to abandon its pro-Israel stance and instead raise its voice for the rights of the oppressed. “This rally is our message to the world – we cannot remain silent while innocents are massacred. Palestine deserves justice,” said one of the organisers.
The protest marked yet another public demonstration of growing solidarity across India with the Palestinian cause, amidst global outrage over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
