Panel Discussion Highlights the Importance of Peace and Justice on Independence Day

August 17, 2024: On the occasion of the Independence Day, the Inter-Religious Dialogue (IRD) cells of Orlem and Maloni Churches in Maharashtra organized a significant panel discussion titled “Spreading Harmony & Peaceful Coexistence.” The event brought together prominent voices from diverse communities, emphasizing the urgent need for justice to ensure lasting peace.

Ghulam Arif Khan, one of the esteemed panelists, articulated the crucial link between peace and justice, asserting that peace is indispensable in every society but unattainable without justice. He further stressed that building a community founded on fraternity, justice, and peace requires overcoming deep-seated misconceptions and fostering collaboration across different societal groups.

The panel featured an array of respected speakers, including Fr. Aniceto Pereira, Shilpa Chedda, Arvind Nigale, Ajaz Ahmed, J.S. Kohli, and Pratish Gaikwad, who each shared their insights on promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence. The session was skillfully moderated by Stanley D’Souza and Alexio, ensuring a productive and engaging discussion.

The event highlighted the collective responsibility of all communities to work together for a more just and peaceful society, reflecting the true spirit of Independence Day.
