Hyderabad: A Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) will open in Hyderabad’s Old City on September 16, marking the first such facility inside a metro station. The center will operate from the MGBS Metro Station, which connects the red and green metro lines, and will serve residents of South Hyderabad.
Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi announced the development and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs for approving the long-pending demand. He said the new center will be inaugurated by a Union Minister. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader highlighted that the Old City’s large population faced difficulties traveling to other parts of Hyderabad for passport services.
Owaisi recalled that the late Sushma Swaraj, during her tenure as external affairs minister, had supported the idea of setting up a PSK in the Old City after his representation. The facility is expected to reduce travel time, improve accessibility, and bring relief to thousands of applicants.
The new center will function alongside the existing VFS office for Saudi Arabia at the same metro station, making it a significant administrative hub for residents.
