Peaceful Kolar Bundh against Amit Shah’s Remarks

Kolar: Demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his derogatory remarks against the architect of Indian Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a total bundh was observed in district headquarters Kolar town, yesterday.

Auto rickshaw union supported the bundh call given by Dalit organisations. Muslims also joined in large numbers after the Friday prayers. All the business establishments remained closed and the district authorities had closed down educational institutions. Public transport was out of road and even some government offices also remained closed.

Elsewhere in other towns like Mulbagal and Chintamani protests were held demanding the resignation of Amit Shah. A memorandum was presented to Prime Minister through the Assistant Commissioner in Mulbagal by the Ryot Sangha demanding dismissal of Amit Shah.

In Chintamani, a memorandum was presented to the Tahsildar by Dalit organisations demanding action against the perpetrators of disfiguring Ambedkar’s statue in town. Earlier, a protest march was conducted across the main roads of the town. It was also stated that if no action is taken against the perpetrators, a protest demonstration will be held before the Tahsildar office.
