Bengaluru, Feb. 29: February 27, 2024 was another important day for the people of historical town Talikot in Bijapur district. People of all faiths gathered to witness the inauguration of Masjid-e-Aala. Maulana Waliullah Sayeedi Falahi, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, travelled all the way from New Delhi to declare the Masjid open.
Talikot is remembered for the battle of 1565 fought between the mighty Vijayangar kingdom and combined Sultanates of Deccan. It was a watershed battle which changed the course of history in South.
Among the guests were Siddalinga Swamy of Khasgteshwar Mutt, Shivkumar Swamy of Durudundeshwara Mutt, Mohan Jadav, president of Town Muncipal Council, Dr Prabhu Gowda Lingdalli, renowned ophthalmologist and social activist. The state secretary of Jamaat e Islami Hind, Mohammed Yusuf Kanni, and renowned Kannada orator Lal Husain Kandgal also shared the dais.
Hundreds of people from all sections of the society were delightful to share the feelings of solidarity. Religious leaders of both the faiths recalled the harmonious atmosphere prevailed all around until recently and resolved to restore the same again.
Maulana Walliullah Sayeedi Falahi highlighted the importance of Masjid in a society. Apart from being a sacred place of worship, it is centre for the community activities and meeting point of people of different levels and understandings. He advised people to learn the sacred book of their religions and also that of other religions to get a better understanding of their ethos and dogmas. Thus, there will be no room for misunderstandings and ill feelings, he said.
Later in the evening, Maulana Waliullah Sayeedi addressed a public programme, well attended by three thousand men and women.
