New Delhi: The shutdown in Delhi, called by the Trade Association in protest of the Pahalgam terrorist incident, was completely successful.
Expressing his reaction to the closure of shops and markets especially in Muslim-majority areas, Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, National President of Urdu Development Organisation (UDO), said that this has sent a powerful message across the country. He stated that the shutdown was organised to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam incident and to express condolences to their families – and it was completely successful.
Dr. Khan further stated that after this heinous crime, the communal forces and godi media tried to create an atmosphere of hatred, but the peace-loving people of the country completely thwarted those efforts.
He said that the people of the country have sent a clear message to the godi media that they will not be misled by them. He emphasised that the attempt to give a communal colour to this terrorist incident has completely failed.
Thanking the people of the country, he expressed hope that citizens will continue to play an important role in maintaining harmony and brotherhood and will not fall prey to the incitement of communal forces and biased media. Only then, he said, will our nation continue to progress on the path of development.
