Aligarh, July 4: As part of the nation-wide Van Mahotsav celebrations, Sir Syed Hall (North), Aligarh Muslim University, organised a plantation drive today, echoing the spirit of the Government of India’s “Green India” campaign. The initiative highlights AMU’s steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and aimed to nurture ecological consciousness among the youth.
The drive was inaugurated by Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Department of West Asian & North African Studies; Prof M. Wasim Ali, Proctor; Prof. Mohammad Shameem, Chairman, Department of TB & Chest Diseases; Prof. Anwar Shahzad, Member-in-Charge, Land & Gardens; and Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Associate Professor, Saudi Electronic University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Provost Prof. Adam Malik Khan, wardens, Mr. Amir Suhail, Senior Hall, staff, and enthusiastic students joined hands to plant diverse saplings across the Hall premises, enriching the campus greenery and fostering a healthier environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez said, “Planting a tree is planting hope for generations. Our small acts today will shape a sustainable and greener tomorrow.”
