New Delhi, April 13: During a recent election rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav for a viral video from September 2023. The video showed the two leaders allegedly preparing “Champaran mutton” during the holy month of Sawan. PM Modi accused them and their allies of echoing a regressive Mughal-era mentality and using such actions to provoke voters for political gain. He emphasized his responsibility to present the true narrative to the nation, despite potential criticism.
In another incident, a video of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav eating fish fry during Navratri caused controversy. BJP leaders and online users disapproved, with Union Minister Giriraj Singh accusing Yadav of engaging in appeasement politics. Singh also criticized Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav’s father, for alleged leniency towards Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshi immigrants during his tenure.
Yadav defended himself, explaining that the video was recorded on April 8, before Navratri began. He dismissed the criticism as a distraction and mocked the response from BJP supporters and the media, asserting that the accusations against him were unfounded.
