Aligarh: As part of the Republic Day celebrations, a poetry recitation competition (Bait Bazi) was held at Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School. Officiating Principal Dr. Mohd Faiyazuddin emphasised the vital contributions of Urdu slogans, poetry, and poets during India’s freedom struggle. He also highlighted Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s significant role in advancing Urdu literature and poetry, which inspired the school to organise this event. Dr. Faiyazuddin appreciated the initiative to revive the tradition of Bait Bazi through this competition.
The event saw participation from teams representing all university schools, which showcased a diverse and rich collection of Urdu poetry. Their performances demonstrated appreciation for literary heritage and poetic expression.
In the competition, the team from Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School won first place, followed by Senior Secondary School (Girls) in second place, and Syed Hamid Senior Secondary School (Boys) in third place.
The event was organised by a team comprising Dr. Shahid Jaleel, Mr. Saeed Anwar Siddiqi, Dr. Faizur Rahman, Cultural Coordinator Mrs. Shazia Qamar, and Mr. Abu Hamza. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Ayesha Tabassum.
