New Delhi: Reacting to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remark encouraging the birth of a third child, Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, Secretary General of Hakim Ajmal Khan Forum for Peace and Harmony, said that the statement is misleading and contrary to the policies of the Government of India.
He pointed out that, as per the Government policy, after two children, the third child is not entitled to government benefits. In such a situation, the question arises: who will take responsibility for the future of the third child?
Dr. Khan further said that for decades, the Government of India has been promoting the slogan “We two, our two” for population control, and the people of India have been implementing it. This has yielded positive results, especially in the southern states, where population growth is controlled and the level of education is significantly higher compared to other states. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are prime examples of this progress.
He stressed that states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat should also adopt the model of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Khan expressed hope that Mr. Mohan Bhagwat would reconsider his statement on population control.
