Jalgaon: The Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO), a wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra North Zone, organised a remarkable human chain as part of its ‘Prerna’ campaign to mark India’s 79th Independence Day. The event took place at GS Ground Road, Jalgaon, with around 150 women and students participating enthusiastically from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on August 15.
Through this human chain, GIO aimed to highlight the true essence of freedom. Participants, holding tricolours, placards, and banners, conveyed the message that freedom is not limited to physical liberty but also encompasses the freedom of mind and thought. The placards emphasised that “freedom is a great blessing, which must be used with responsibility and trust. It’s not a licence for amusement or arbitrary actions.”
The ‘Prerna’ campaign was launched on August 10 at the Red Cross Society Hall, Jalgaon, with a dignified ceremony and will continue from August 11 to 17. Various activities are being organised under this campaign, with the human chain being a significant highlight. During the event, ‘Prerna’ folders highlighting the concepts and responsibilities of freedom were distributed among passers-by. Also, books introducing Islam in Hindi and Marathi, along with free copies of the Quran, were provided, which proved to be a special attraction for participants and onlookers.
The participants displayed discipline and enthusiasm throughout the human chain. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and prayers for the nation’s progress, unity, and peace.
GIO’s campaign not only illuminated the deeper meaning of freedom for the citizens of Jalgaon but also spread the message of responsible citizenship. The event proved to be a successful effort in fostering harmony and brotherhood between Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
