Pride of the Community: Yaseen Shan Muhammed – From Daily Wager to Judge

Yaseen Shan Muhammed, a 29-year-old from Kerala, has achieved the remarkable feat of securing the second rank in the Kerala Judicial Service Examination 2024. Soon, he will serve as a Civil Judge. Despite facing severe financial hardships, Yaseen’s journey is a testament to perseverance and determination.

Born into a family with limited means in Palakkad district of Kerala, Yaseen took up odd jobs such as daily wage labour and working as a delivery boy to support his family while pursuing his studies. His story is one of grit and resilience.

Yaseen’s mother had to leave school in sixth grade and was married at 14. She was divorced at 19, and Yaseen was born when she was just 15. She worked as a daily wage labourer and an ASHA worker to sustain the family.

From delivering newspapers and milk in his early years to teaching students and working as a Zomato delivery boy during his LLB studies, Yaseen left no stone unturned to finance his education. After completing his 12th grade, he earned a diploma in electronics from a polytechnic college and later graduated in public administration. Yaseen went on to study law at the prestigious Government Law College, Ernakulam.

He cleared the judicial exam on his second attempt, having failed the mains in his first try.

Speaking about his achievement, Yaseen said, “I want to be part of the system and work with honesty and integrity to serve justice.”

His inspiring journey demonstrates that success is achieved through unwavering dedication, not shortcuts.
