Principal Faces Inquiry Over Urdu Phrase on Farewell Card

-Raheem Khan
Baran, Rajasthan – A school principal in Baran district is under investigation for using “Jashn-e-Alvida” (Farewell Celebration) on farewell cards for 12th-grade students. Vikesh Kumar, principal of Mahatma Gandhi Government School, organized the event on February 28, 2025.
Some individuals objected to the Urdu phrase, leading to complaints to the Education Minister, local MLA, and District Collector. In response, Chief District Education Officer Gainda Lal Raigar ordered a three-member inquiry team to investigate and submit a report by March 3. If any staff member is found guilty, disciplinary action will be recommended.
Kumar clarified that the farewell was approved by the School Management Committee. Cards with the phrase were printed but not officially distributed. Instead, revised cards were used. He blamed students for mistakenly circulating the original cards.
The inquiry team has completed its investigation, gathering statements from staff, local dignitaries, and journalists. The final report and possible disciplinary actions are awaited.
