All private schools in Bihar’s Kishanganj district affiliated with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have been directed to teach Urdu. According to a PTI report, the order was issued by District Education Officer (DEO) Nasir Hussain.
The directive stated: “All private schools in the Kishanganj district recognised by CBSE Board are requested to ensure the necessary arrangements for the study of Urdu for interested students and submit a compliance report to the Bihar Education Project Office, Kishanganj.”
This decision follows the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held in October 2024. During the meeting, Congress MP Javed Azad and Congress MLA Izharul Hussain raised concerns that Urdu was not being taught in private schools across the district.
DEO Nasir Hussain emphasised the importance of ensuring facilities for Urdu education, requiring schools to report their compliance to Bihar Education Project Office.
