The AIUTC President pledges to follow in the footsteps of Hakim Ajmal Khan for the promotion of Unani medicine, Opposes the Division of Tibbiya College
New Delhi: Professor Mushtaq Ahmad has been unanimously elected President of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC) for the fourth consecutive term. Pro. Ahmad announced the Central National Executive Committee with Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan named as General Secretary, while the Vice Presidents include Dr. S.M. Hussain (Mumbai), Dr. Mohammad Ataullah Shariff (Hyderabad), Professor Ghulam Qutub Chishti (Jaipur), Professor Fazlullah Qadri (Patna), and Dr. Ghazala Javed (Delhi).
Announcing the reorganisation of the AIUTC, Prof. Ahmad reaffirmed his commitment to continue the struggle for the promotion of Unani medicine by following in the footsteps of the eminent freedom fighter, Masiḥ-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan.
He further stated that all conspiracies to divide the Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbiya College into two parts or to usurp its ownership would be thwarted. He emphasised that Hakim Ajmal Khan had established the Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbiya College under one roof and under one principal, thereby giving the nation and the world a message of unity and love, and that it is the collective responsibility of all to preserve this legacy under all circumstances.
Prof. Ahmad also announced other functionaries of the AIUTC. The Secretaries elected were Prof. Akhtar Hussain Chaudhary (Pune), Dr. S.M. Yaqub (Nagpur), Dr. Sabahatullah (Amroha), Dr. Laeeq Ali Khan (Kasganj), Dr. Mohammad Arshad Ghayas (Nuh), and Dr. Mujeebur Rahman (Kolkata). Dr. Sanjay Dhingra (Delhi) was elected Treasurer.
Among the National Patrons of the AIUTC are the widely respected social and philanthropic personality Dr. Syed Farooq (Chief Patron), along with Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Shafqat Azmi (Delhi), Dr. Shamsul Afaq (Delhi), Dr. Syed Mohammad Irfan Najaf Alimi (Allahabad), Dr. Ikhlaq Ahmad (Delhi), Dr. Abdul Jabbar Siddiqui (Pilibhit), Dr. Khalid Saifullah (Kolkata), and Professor Qamaruzzaman (Deoband).
