Aligarh: Prof. Ziaur Rahman Siddiqi, Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been conferred upon the “National Best Urdu Teacher Award 2025” at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
The award was presented by the World Urdu Day Organising Committee during a programme at Ghalib Academy, New Delhi. Presenting the honour, Committee Convener, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, described Prof. Siddiqi as “a luminary of Urdu studies whose remarkable contributions in criticism, research, linguistics, translation, and journalism have made a lasting impact on the world of Urdu literature.”
Prof. Siddiqi is the author of over two dozen books and more than a hundred research and critical essays published in reputed national and international journals. In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Siddiqi has served various government and literary institutions in Delhi, playing an instrumental role in promoting and preserving the Urdu language.
