Professor Frances Precht, Ghalib Institute Awarded Sir Syed Excellence Award

Aligarh: The renowned Ghalib Institute has been honored with the Sir Syed Excellence Award by Aligarh Muslim University in recognition of its scholarly, literary, and cultural contributions. This announcement was made in a statement by the Public Relations Office of Aligarh Muslim University.

The award will be presented to the internationally acclaimed translator, critic, and author Professor Frances Precht, along with the Ghalib Institute, which will receive monetary awards of two lakh and one lakh rupees, respectively. The awards will be presented on October 27, in celebration of the birthday of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.

The Sir Syed Excellence Award is conferred for outstanding achievements in the fields of scholarship, literature, and culture. Professor Shafiq Qadwai, Director of the Sir Syed Academy and Convener of the jury, stated that Ghalib Institute is one of the most esteemed literary and cultural organizations in the subcontinent. Its annual events, awards, international and national seminars, and publications are held in high regard worldwide.

Professor Sadiq Rahman Qadwai, Secretary of the Ghalib Institute, expressed gratitude towards Professor Naima Khatoon, Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Professor Shafiq Qadwai, and all members of the jury. He remarked that receiving this award from such a prestigious institution has greatly encouraged everyone associated with the Ghalib Institute.

Dr. Idris Ahmad, Director of the Ghalib Institute, noted that this award is a testament to the trust of the institute’s trustees and the hard work of its staff. He emphasized his commitment to maintaining the academic integrity of the institute and his determination to ensure that it continues to thrive in the literary and cultural fields.
