– Raheem Khan
Jaipur: A protest rally was held at Shaheed Smarak, MI Road, by the Joint Committee Tahaffuz-e-Auqaf Rajasthan against the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025.
Firoz Khan of the Welfare Party of India said the government is trying to take Waqf properties from Muslims. Haji Saeed of the Kayamkhani community said including non-Muslims in the Waqf Board is a plot to grab Waqf assets. He urged Muslims to remove their own encroachments and warned of protests if the bill isn’t taken back.
Activist Rafiq Garnet told Muslims to focus and not get distracted. Advocate Syed Mujahid Naqvi, General Secretary of Milli Council, said the bill attacks both Muslim identity and the Constitution. He warned that other communities’ Waqf lands may be targeted next.
Naeem Qureshi of Jamiat Quresh and Sabiha Parveen of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Rajasthan said the bill only targets Muslims. Parveen asked why the government wants to control Muslims’ food, dress, and property. Ritansh of Bharat Janvadi Morcha showed CPI’s full support and said the government is creating Hindu-Muslim issues to distract and help corporates.
Memuna Nargis of the Welfare Party praised Muslims’ past protests like those against NRC. She warned that half of Ayodhya is already sold to corporates, and others may be next. Abdul Latif Arko of Teli Mahapanchayat said even Hindus are unhappy with the bill.
Rubina Abrar, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (Women’s Wing), said the bill mocks the Constitution and vowed to keep protesting. Anwar Shah, ex-Secretary of Jama Masjid Jaipur, recalled the example of Hazrat Hussain and said the bill will be withdrawn just like the farm laws.
Mohanlal Bairwa of Azad Samaj Party said the bill blocks Muslim education and also targets Jains by demolishing temples. Yasmin Faruqi of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board said Waqf land belongs to Allah and is only for the poor, not for government control.
Abdul Salam Johar of Muslim Progressive Front said adding non-Muslims to Waqf and letting collectors handle disputes will destroy Waqf. Advocate Syed Saadat Ali of APCR Rajasthan said this bill weakens the law and asked people to protest in large numbers.
Dr. Shahabuddin, SDPI State Secretary, said the community will protect its rights and Constitution. Mufti Shafiq of the Joint Committee said Waqf properties cannot be changed and called the bill dishonest. Khanu Khan, Chairman of the Rajasthan Waqf Committee, said this is a fight against feudal thinking and accused the government of handing Waqf lands to corporates.
Nisha Siddhu of CPI called for unity. Samra Sultan of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board said the bill attacks Muslim identity and patriotism. Mufti Shahabuddin said this is a fight for faith and rights and the entire community stands together.
Chelaram of Ambedkar Party said the bill breaks secularism and promotes one religion. Imam Akbar Nazish of Shia Jama Masjid warned the government not to test Muslim patience. Sawai Singh of Samagra Seva Sangh said the government is hiding its failure by helping corporates.
Advocate Prem Krishna Sharma, ex-President of PUCL, said the bill has no basis and urged talks with Muslims. MLA Amin Kagzi of Kishanpol said the bill harms India’s Ganga-Jamuni culture and will not succeed. MLA Rafiq Khan of Adarsh Nagar said the bill is illegal and slammed parts like adding non-Muslims to Waqf Boards and giving powers to collectors.
Abdul Rahim Mujaddidi, General Secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, called the bill a “black law” that has united all communities. Jat Mahasabha showed full support to Muslims. Mohammad Nazimuddin, Convener of the Joint Committee and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Rajasthan President, warned of strong protests if the bill is not withdrawn.
Shailendra Awasthi of the Samajwadi Party backed the Personal Law Board. Hafiz Manzoor Ali of Jamiat Ulama Hind recalled old struggles and told the government not to push Muslims to the streets.
The rally echoed with slogans like “Masjid, Madrasa, Qabristan, Nahi Chhodega Hindustan,” “Waqf Par Hamla Nahi Chalega,” and “Ladenge, Jeetenge.” A memorandum was submitted to the District Collector for the President.
