Protests Erupt against Upcoming “Hindu Rashtra” Rally in Jaipur

Jaipur: A planned vehicle rally titled “Sankalp Maatra Hindu Rashtra” (Resolution-Only Hindu Nation), organized by Balmukund Acharya, MLA of Hawa Mahal Assembly constituency, is facing huge backlash ahead of its schedule on September 29. The rally, set to commence from Khole ke Hanuman Ji Temple and pass through Ramganj before concluding at Ramlila Maidan, has drawn protests from various organizations.

Demonstrators are urging the government and local authorities to prevent any events that promote separatist ideologies, emphasizing the importance of preserving India’s Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (cultural harmony). Mohan Lal Bairawa, Senior Vice President of Dalit-Muslim Ekta Manch, and Advocate Ghanshyam Brijwasi articulated their concerns, asserting that such rallies contradict the Preamble of the Constitution, which upholds the unity and integrity of the nation.

Bairawa warned that events promoting a singular religious ideology could lead to societal fragmentation and urged the administration to take immediate action to halt the rally.

Bairawa has formally lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India, as well as the Chief Electoral Officer of Rajasthan. The complaint asserts that the rally organized by Acharya is a violation of the secular principles enshrined in the Constitution. The letter calls for an impartial inquiry into the matter and requests appropriate action against the MLA for promoting a Hindu Rashtra.

The protests reflect widespread apprehension regarding potential communal disharmony and the perceived threat to India’s secular fabric. Community leaders are advocating for governmental intervention to maintain peace and unity in the region.
