Jaipur – The People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) condemned the attack on ex-councilor Hakim Qureshi, accused in the Bijaynagar case, by lawyers in the Ajmer court. They demanded strict action against the attackers.
PUCL stated that lawyers must ensure justice, not break the law. Such incidents are rising in the Ajmer court, yet no action is taken. Despite police presence and clear evidence, inaction emboldens culprits.

On February 27, PUCL met the District and Sessions Judge, submitting a memorandum to improve court security. They urged the administration to register a case for obstructing government work and arrest those responsible.
PUCL criticized Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani’s statement on forming an SIT and bulldozing accused persons’ homes. They said it shows his distrust in the police. The Supreme Court has ruled such actions illegal, making his statement inappropriate.
PUCL state president Bhanwar Meghwanshi said justice must be served to the victims, and culprits must be punished legally. He urged action against those inciting public unrest.
