Amritsar: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann strongly opposed the Centre’s move to land US deportation flights at Amritsar. He called it a BJP conspiracy to defame Punjab and questioned why the MEA chose Amritsar over other airports.
Mann said Punjab, despite its contributions, is being targeted as Modi dislikes Punjabis. He noted that while Amritsar is denied international flights, US Army planes land here without reason. He accused the Modi government of failing to protect Indians abroad, calling the deportations a “return gift” from Trump.
Mann slammed the Centre for abandoning deported Indians instead of ensuring a dignified return. He said the BJP’s bias against Punjabis drives its actions. The government should have used its own plane to bring them back with dignity.
