Qazis’ decisions shouldn’t go against Islamic Shariah: Khalid Saifullah Rahmani

Jaipur: Islamic scholars have emphasized that no judge should pass any ruling that is contrary to Shariah law, as such decisions could lead to societal discord. Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), made these remarks during his address at the third session of the two-day consultative meeting of the Board.

In his speech, Maulana Rahmani warned that legal rulings that conflict with Shariah law could undermine the unity of society and disrupt harmony. He noted that a system contrary to Islamic teachings is being imposed upon Muslims, which is detrimental to both Muslims and the wider community. He stressed that any attempt to pass judgments that deviate from Islamic principles is unacceptable. During the meeting, it was highlighted that Muslims’ issues related to marriage, inheritance, and other civil matters must be adjudicated as per Islamic law.

Maulana Rahmani also urged judges and officials to be mindful of this responsibility. He emphasized that Muslim religious scholars and leaders must remain vigilant against any legislation or judgments that conflict with Islamic teachings.

Maulana Rahmani lamented that there are efforts to push for laws that could potentially erode the foundations of Islamic law in the country. He also criticized some factions for attempting to influence the judiciary to take steps against Islamic teachings.

The meeting discussed various legal issues and challenges faced by the Muslim community. Scholars and participants expressed concern over the growing interference in religious matters and called for a greater emphasis on adhering to Islamic Shariah. They called upon Muslims to remain united in the face of such challenges.
