Qur’an Study Session on Surah Al-Jumu’ah Emphasises Strong Connection with the Holy Qur’an

Weekly Gathering Organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Laxmi Nagar Unit at Amina Masjid, Karkardooma Court

New Delhi: A weekly Qur’an study session was organised by the Laxmi Nagar Unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at Amina Masjid, Karkardooma Court. The gathering was attended by local residents, worshippers, and individuals interested in understanding the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. On this occasion, Falahuddin Falahi recited Surah Al-Jumu’ah and presented its translation and brief commentary, highlighting the central themes of the Surah and their practical relevance in daily life.

In his address, Falahuddin Falahi stated that Surah Al-Jumu’ah is a comprehensive chapter that teaches believers the importance of knowledge, righteous action, remembrance of Allah, Islamic preaching, and collective social responsibility. He explained that the Surah begins with the glorification of Allah, reminding humanity that everything in the universe praises and worships its Creator. True success, he said, lies in submitting to Allah and shaping one’s life according to His guidance.

He further noted that the Surah clearly outlines the purpose of the mission of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: to recite Allah’s revelations, purify people’s hearts, and teach them the Book and wisdom. He emphasised that the Muslim community today needs to strengthen its relationship with the Qur’an, understand its message, and implement its teachings in both personal and social life. Mere recitation of the Qur’an, he said, is not enough; its teachings must be translated into action and reflected in one’s character.

During the session, Falahi also referred to the example of the Children of Israel mentioned in Surah Al-Jumu’ah, explaining that possessing knowledge without acting upon it brings no real benefit. The Qur’an teaches that knowledge must be accompanied by sincerity, good conduct, and practical implementation. He urged the audience to uphold honesty, justice, brotherhood, service to humanity, and piety in their lives and to spread goodness within society.

Speaking about the significance of Friday, he said that Islam grants special importance to the day of Jumu’ah. Allah commands believers to leave worldly engagements and respond to the call of prayer when the Friday congregation is announced. This, he explained, demonstrates that faith and the Hereafter should remain central in a believer’s life. In an age dominated by materialism and worldly distractions, understanding and practicing the teachings of the Qur’an has become more important than ever.

Participants described the session as enlightening, inspiring, and spiritually uplifting. Among those present were Jamaat members Mohammad Salim and Wasiq Imam, along with local office-bearers, volunteers, and worshippers of the mosque. The programme concluded with a special supplication led by Maulana Hifzur Rahman, Imam of the mosque, praying for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, peace and harmony in the country, and the welfare of humanity. The attendees reaffirmed their commitment to understanding the Qur’an, implementing its teachings in their lives, and conveying its message to others.
