Radiance Sparks Unity: Unveiling the Challenge to Dalit-Muslim Relationships

New Delhi, Feb. 7: Radiance News, as part of its ongoing lecture series, held its second online talk on Tuesday, delving into the crucial topic of ‘Challenges to Dalit-Muslim Relationships’. The event aimed to explore avenues for solidarity and understanding between these communities.

Ejaz Ahmed Aslam, Editor-in-Chief of Radiance, welcomed the guests and participants, emphasizing the significance of social cohesion among India’s minorities beyond just political alliances.

Mr. Aslam underscored Radiance’s commitment to addressing social, economic, and political issues over its 60-year journey. He highlighted the imperative for minority groups to bridge social divides and collaborate for mutual progress.

The guest speaker, Prof. Jagjiwan Ram, a distinguished professor and university head from the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) in Raichur, Karnataka, led an insightful session on the topic. Mr. Ram, with a keen interest in Dalit-Muslim relations, elucidated the challenges and opportunities for unity between these communities. He emphasized the need for a unifying ideology to foster trust and solidarity, citing historical discrimination against Dalits and the enduring biases in contemporary society.

Drawing attention to the Right to Education (RTE) Act as a step forward, Mr. Ram highlighted persistent biases against linguistic and regional identities. He posed critical questions about the willingness of both communities to unite for change and advocated for the adoption of a comprehensive strategy focused on Needs, Desires, and Strengths (NDS) to empower marginalized voices.

The session sparked engaging discussions during the question-and-answer segment, with 21 participants actively participating. Among the attendees were notable figures including Syed Tanveer Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of Islamic Publications; Mohammed Atherulla Shariff, former Ameer Halqua of JIH Karnataka; and Sikandar Azam, Editor of Radiance. Mohd Naushad Khan, Sub-Editor at Radiance, meticulously anchored the program.

The talk concluded with a call to action for concerted efforts towards building inclusive communities and advocating for the marginalized. The event underscored Radiance News’ commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding on pressing social issues.
