Muslim Youth Injured in Bihar After Dispute Over Loud Music During Namaz

Madhubani: A young Muslim man in Bihar’s Madhubani district sustained serious head injuries following a clash with members of a religious procession. The incident took place when Mohammed Ibrahim, who was visiting his aunt’s house near a mosque, objected to the loud music being played on a DJ system during the call for prayers.

According to family members, Ibrahim requested the procession to either move forward or reduce the volume as it was time for namaz. This led to an altercation in which one participant allegedly threw his cap aside and struck him on the head. Ibrahim collapsed with severe injuries and had to be rushed to a hospital in Madhubani, where he remains under treatment.

His elder brother, Mohammed Isqar, explained that Ibrahim had stepped out for prayers when the procession stopped outside the mosque. “He politely asked them to move on or lower the music. Suddenly, they began attacking him. He was all alone at the time,” Isqar told reporters.

The incident has raised concerns about recurring tensions during overlapping religious activities in the state.  Local residents expressed shock at the assault, urging authorities to ensure peaceful conduct of religious events and timely intervention to prevent such clashes in the future.
