New Delhi — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stirred fresh political discourse with a message posted on its official X account, quoting the spiritual leader Baba Bageshwar. The post indicated that the aspirations for constructing temples in Mathura–Vrindavan and Kashi (Varanasi) will soon be fulfilled, framing these as the next milestones following the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, reported the Madhyamam.
The post underscores a continuing narrative of “temple politics,” suggesting that once Lord Ram was seated in Ayodhya, the next step is to enthrone Lord Krishna in Mathura–Vrindavan—and beyond that, further projects such as Kashi. Alongside this, Baba Bageshwar praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that his leadership is restoring reverence for faith and tradition.
This statement comes in the wake of remarks by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who clarified that while the Sangh will not directly spearhead temple campaigns beyond Ayodhya, it will not prevent its volunteers from participating. He urged Muslim communities to consider relinquishing claims on sites like the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi and the Shahi Eidgah in Mathura, as a gesture toward communal harmony.
Critics argue that these developments point to the BJP’s strategy of continuing temple-centric politics even after the Ram Mandir milestone. In contrast, supporters within the Hindu nationalist movement interpret the focus on Mathura and Kashi as a natural progression of their ideological objectives.
