Iran President Calls for Unity at Islamic Conference

Tehran: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that Tehran seeks no conflict with Muslim nations, reaffirming his government’s commitment to Islamic unity. Speaking at the opening of the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference, he urged regional states to resist external powers attempting to exploit divisions among Muslims.

Pezeshkian told delegates, “We have no quarrel with any Muslim country and are not seeking conflict. We are committed to the unity of the Islamic Ummah.” He warned that foreign powers profit from Muslim disputes, selling arms, seizing resources, and fueling hostility.

The president stressed that Iran regards all Muslims as brothers, naming Palestinians, Iraqis, Egyptians, Qataris, and Emiratis. He said this position was not limited to rhetoric but was grounded in Iran’s belief system. Referring to the recent 12-day conflict with Israel, he said Iran’s resilience and internal unity had thwarted its adversaries’ objectives.

Pezeshkian underlined that while military strength was necessary, the strongest response to Iran’s enemies came through national solidarity. He appealed to Islamic leaders and scholars to spread the Prophet’s message of justice and unity, urging them to set aside disagreements that harm the Ummah.

The president also welcomed condemnation of US and Israeli policies by Muslim states but called for stronger collective action. “If we act sincerely and on the basis of justice and piety, the other side will surrender,” he said.

The Tehran conference, themed “The Prophet of Mercy and the Islamic Ummah,” will run until September 10 with participation from over 1,000 delegates, including 80 scholars and 210 foreign guests.
