Karnataka’s Seerat Campaign Highlights Prophet’s Message of Justice Across Society

Bengaluru: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Karnataka launched a statewide Seerat Campaign from 3 to 14 September under the theme “Prophet Mohammed ﷺ – Messenger of Justice.” The initiative reached cities, towns, and villages with a variety of programs designed to introduce the Prophet’s teachings on justice and compassion to a diverse audience.

The campaign began with press conferences across Karnataka to announce the theme and schedule. Each year, JIH produces a book in Kannada on one aspect of the Prophet’s life. This year’s book focused on justice and was distributed in large numbers.

Local chapters adapted the campaign to their own contexts. In Navnagar, cadres honored doctors and nurses at a government hospital, calling it an act of justice to recognize their service. In Shiralkoppa, a lady Seer of a local Math released the campaign book, while professors were asked to review it publicly. In Bhatkal, books and pamphlets were given along with sweets, while in other areas cadres visited hospitals, orphanages, and held blood donation drives and cleanliness programs.

Interfaith dialogue featured prominently. In Hospet, a Swamiji released the book and invited JIH leaders to address the gathering. In Bengaluru, a major interfaith symposium brought together Justice V. Gopal Gowda (Retd.), Sikh scholar Prof. Harjinder Bhatia, and leaders of the Basava Samiti, Kannada Sahitya Parishad, and other institutions. Speakers underlined inclusiveness, equality, and justice as shared values.

Campaign activities extended to government institutions, schools, and community leaders. JIH cadres personally met over 24,000 dignitaries across Karnataka. In Bidar, Raichur, and Gulbarga, mohalla meetings and school visits created wide engagement.

Media outreach amplified the campaign. Kannada newspapers covered the programs extensively, while community radio in Mangalore and Belagavi broadcast special Seerat programs. On digital platforms, speeches, reels, and posters went viral, with one speech from Manvi attracting wide attention.

Though the campaign formally concluded, JIH Karnataka leaders said its aim was to inspire lasting commitment to the Prophet’s values of justice, equality, and service in the state’s plural society.
